New Facebook Page!

Dear friends,

I have to decided to change my facebook page’s name to Alchemy of Spirit. I have thought about it and felt that this would encompass everything that I do rather than just calling it Annamaria Love Tribe. Although you will all still be my tribe and I will continue to be of service, doing the same work I have always done….Alchemy of Spirit just feels more aligned with the direction I am going with my business.

Your continued love & support is very much appreciated.

With love & respect, I thank you

Annamaria Love

POWER up your breakfast!

Boring breakfast? Doesn’t have to be. This amazing breakfast topper not only adds flavour but its loaded with super foods. Something I particularly love about this product is that its got two of my favourite foods in it. Coconut and Cocao. Can you say YUM! Did you know that Raw cacao powder contains more than 20 times the antioxidants than blueberries. Yes, 20 times! I know that’s hard to believe but its true. Mmmm one of my all time favourite fruits, coconuts! Coconut meat has got good quality fats, vitamins A and E, along with polyphenols and phytosterols, and lets not forget good old fibre which all work together to decrease the levels of LDL cholesterol. It also contains Sunflower Seeds, Chia Seeds, Cinnamon, Brown Flaxseed, Quinoa, & Pumpkin Seeds… all GOOD STUFF! You can add it to your smoothies, oatmeal, even cereal. This doesn’t have to be limited to just breakfast, enjoy this as a mid-day snack… take your favourite toast top it with any nut butter and sprinkle some on top. I could go on and on about the benefits of all the superfoods in this package but don’t waste your time reading, try it and you will fall in love! How’s that for spicing things up! Is your body too acidic?

What is pH? pH is the measurement of hydrogen ion concentration in the body. The pH scale runs from 0 to 14, with 0 being the most acidic, 14 being the most alkaline, and 7 being neutral.

The human body is an intricate yet powerful machine. One of the most crucial functions of our body is its ability to regulate its own acidity levels to a very fine degree.  Cells will only function normally within relatively narrow limits of pH.  The body regulates its pH by constantly adjusting physiological processes, such as kidney and lung function.

However, the foods you eat can play a role in increasing or decreasing body pH.index

Why is this important? An acidic body will, decrease the energy production in the cells, , decrease it’s ability to repair damaged cells, decrease it’s ability to detoxify heavy metals, decrease the body’s ability to absorb minerals and other nutrients and make cancer cells thrive.

Paying attention to your pH is one place you can begin to make an immediate positive change to preserve your long-term health, keeping your body healthy, functioning correctly and preventing cancer, among many other diseases.

32049How to monitor your pH levels?

  • Saliva or Urine pH test: This is the fastest and simplest way for measuring pH level. However, it is not the most accurate. For saliva, it should be tested 2 hours after your eat. For the urine, it should be tested with the first trip to the bathroom in the morning. These strips can be purchased at any health food store.
  • Blood pH test: This test is obviously not as convenient as the saliva and urine pH test, but it is usually more ac curate. To do the blood pH test, you will need to go to your doctor and request it.

Practice Ahimsa – Compassion for all living things

compassionYou may have heard this word from your yoga teacher or fellow yogis, but what does it mean? Ahimsa is one of the Yamas in Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras. The word ahimsa literally means not to injure or show cruelty to any creature or any person in any way whatsoever. Ahimsa is, however, more than just lack of violence as adapted in yoga. It means kindness, friendliness, and thoughtful consideration of other people and things. It also has to do with our duties and responsibilities too. Ahimsa implies that in every situation we should adopt a considerate attitude and do no harm. In the Ayurveda diet, they promote a plant based diet full of nourishing food. Practicing ahimsa for yourself as well as animals. With that being said, how can slaughtering animals for food consumption be sanctioned. “Killing animals by proxy makes us killers no matter how we cut it.”

This is an interesting read for those on the fence about giving up meat. Click on the link below. Its a long read but well worth it. 🙂

Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter Power Cookies

I use the word power because this cookie does not only taste surprisingly good, its packed with protein, fiber and essential fatty acids. Who says dessert can’t be good for you without sacrificing taste???

•1 ¼ cups chickpeas, I used dry ones but you can use the ones in the can as well, just rinse and dry them
•2 teaspoons vanilla extract (alcohol free)
•½ cup + 2 tablespoons (165 grams) natural peanut butter (no sugar or salt)
•¼ cup raw honey, melted into liquid (you can also use agave or maple syrup)
•1 teaspoon baking powder (aluminum free)
•a pinch of sea salt
•½ cup dark chocolate chips

Preheat your oven to 350°F.

Combine all the ingredients, except for the chocolate chips, in a food processor and process until very smooth. Make sure to scrape the sides and the top to get the little chunks of chickpeas and process again until they’re combined.

Put in the chocolate chips and stir it if you can, or pulse it once or twice. The mixture will be very thick and sticky.

With wet hands, form into 1 ½ ″ balls. Place onto a piece of parchment paper. If you want them to look more like normal cookies, press down slightly on the balls. They don’t do much rising. Bake for about 10 minutes. Allow them to cool and they are ready to eat. These are soo yummy, people actually said “theres beans in this?”

Why not make the most of your water … add chlorophyll!

chlorophyllSince I am taking part in the whole life challenge, drinking A LOT of water is part of it, even more than usual.  So heres a recommendation for those who are also participating as well as those who are not as you should be drinking lots of water daily anyway.

Chlorophyll is a natural occurring molecule that gives plants that green colour. One of the most interesting aspects of chlorophyll is how closely it resembles our red blood cells, known as hemoglobin, the pigment that gives our blood its red color as well as oxygen-carrying capacity. The hemoglobin of the red blood cell and the chlorophyll of the plant are virtually identical in molecular structure, with the only difference being the center atom. So why am I suggesting you add this to your water intake, there are several reasons.

·      it assists in removing toxins from the body by kicking your enzymes into action

·      stabilizes the acid base in the body

·      strengthens your bones – due to its high calcium, vitamin D & magnesium content

·      strengthens your muscles – It aids in strengthening muscles by contracting and relaxing muscles in the body, this is possible due its large amount of magnesium

·      accelerates healing process

·      reduces inflammation – The body’s inflammatory process is a wonderful part of the immune system, designed to protect us from invading microbes, chemicals and allergens; physical trauma; and other threats both real and imagined however its not good to remain inflamed, Inflammation is a key cause or factor in almost all chronic degenerative and lifestyle diseases.

·      keeps your skin glowing – It aids red blood cells in collecting oxygen and acts as a catalyst for the regeneration function of cells. It returns the “glow” to your skin by replacing dead cells with new ones

Chlorophyll can be found in liquid form with no flavour or you can also find ones with mint flavour. Personally I like the mint flavour, its nice and not overpowering.
